The GlenAllachie 50th Anniversary Future Edition is the final bottling in the Past, Present and Future series celebrating master distiller Billy Walker's half-century in whisky. It is a double first: the distillery's first peated release and the first spirit ever distilled under Walker's ownership after he bought GlenAllachie, built near Aberlour in 1967, from Chivas Brothers in 2017.
Made with mainland peat and an unusually long 160-hour fermentation for an ester-rich, fruity spirit, this 4-year-old was matured in former rye and bourbon barrels with some virgin oak, then bottled at natural cask strength of 120.4 proof, non-chill-filtered and naturally colored, in a 700mL bottle. Amber-hued, it is distinctively smoky yet sweet, bursting with cinnamon apple alongside smoldering oak. A rare glimpse of GlenAllachie's future and a must for collectors of the Walker era.
