Glendalough Mountain Strength Poitín is the high-proof version of Ireland's original spirit. Poitín (pronounced put-cheen) was the illicit pot-still spirit made in the hills for centuries before it was legalized again in 1997, and Glendalough Distillery in the Wicklow Mountains was among the first to bring it back. Mountain Strength is distilled from malted barley and sugar beet and bottled unaged at 55% ABV (110 proof).
It is bold and clean, with sweet grain, a hint of fresh spice and a touch of sweetness from the beet, and a long, warming finish.
