Gran Malo is a flavored tequila brand co-founded by Luisito Comunica, the Mexican travel and lifestyle content creator, in partnership with Casa Lumbre, the Mexico City spirits company behind a long list of agave brands. It launched first in Southern California before spreading across the Southwest, with Spirit of Gallo handling U.S. distribution. Spicy Tamarindo is built for the way a lot of people actually drink tequila with friends: tequila mixed with natural tamarind flavor and macerated Mexican chiles, the sweet, sour and spicy pairing found all over Mexican snacks and street drinks. It's bottled at 30% ABV (60 proof), lower than standard tequila, which makes it easy to take as a shot. The packaging plays the part too: the logo carries El Diablo and La Calaca from Mexican folklore, and the cap doubles as a shot glass.
