Hangar 1 Smoke Point Vodka is a limited release from Hangar 1 Distillery in Alameda, California, born from the 2017 Northern California wildfires. The distillery worked with wineries whose grapes had been tainted by smoke, distilling the smoke-affected wine into a vodka that carries a subtle smoky note, and donated proceeds to wildfire relief. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
The vodka is clean and smooth with a gentle, savory smokiness on the nose and finish, a soft grape-derived roundness on the palate and a crisp, dry close. It makes a remarkable smoky martini, a mezcal-free smoky Paloma, or a Bloody Mary with real depth.
