Hanzell Sebella Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Hanzell is one of California's historic wineries, founded in 1953 in the hills above Sonoma, with a long record of Burgundy-inspired Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Sebella Pinot Noir is bottled under the Sonoma Coast appellation, a cool, foggy area where the best sites sit on ridges above the fog line, and cool nights help hold onto acidity. A portion of the fruit, about 41 percent, is fermented as whole clusters, which adds lift and a savory edge. Bottled at 13.7% alcohol, the wine opens with pomegranate, Bing cherry, cranberry and wild blueberry, joined by tangerine, cherry tobacco and a hint of daikon radish and redwood forest floor. The palate is dense yet taut, with blood orange and kumquat notes and a velvety texture that still feels lifted. Acidity is lively and the finish runs long and juicy. It is a thoughtful, savory Pinot Noir that appeals to fans of Old World style. Pair it with roast quail, seared duck, charred mushrooms or a herbed rack of lamb. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
