Description: The Hekinan distillery, located in Aichi and founded in 1949, is making a comeback with the release of a limited 5 year old batch of whisky made from malt and grain in a pot still. The whisky is aged for 5 years in used whisky barrels to allow the gentle and smooth aromas to develop.

On the nose, this whisky has an initial oakiness that is somewhat quirky and odd. Sniffing further, you can pick up assorted spices, cardboard, and vanilla. With time, the aroma becomes more rounded and approachable, with a balanced mix of orchard fruits and mild oakiness.

In terms of taste, this whisky has a medium body and sweetness. It is also somewhat oaky on the palate, with a sugary sweetness. A pinch of salt and mixed spices appear on subsequent sips.

The finish is medium-long, with a steady course towards the end. The finish is a little nutty, with a touch of nuttiness that lingers on the tongue. Overall, this is a well-balanced and flavorful whisky that is sure to impress.
