Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin
Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin is produced by Radico Khaitan at the Rampur Distillery in the Himalayan foothills, and it is named for the golden desert city of Rajasthan. The botanicals come from the four corners of India, including Darjeeling green tea, coriander, orange peel, cubeb pepper, lemongrass and lemon peel, and it is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof).
Drinkhacker rated it a B and found a nose of kaffir lime, lemongrass, orange peel and a crushed-seashell minerality, a gentle palate of lemon and lime with a grind of pepper and fresh red berries, and a lightly sweet, herbal finish with clean linen and lavender. Juniper stays in the background, so this is a citrus-and-tea gin rather than a piney one. It is superb in a G&T with a curl of orange peel and a sprig of mint, and it brings something new to a Gimlet.
