JAJA Blanco Tequila
JAJA Blanco is the flagship of the tequila brand built around laughing with friends, founded in 2018 by brothers Elliot and Maurice Tebele, the creators behind one of Instagram's biggest comedy accounts, and their childhood friend Martin Hoffstein after a trip to Jalisco to find a traditionally made spirit worth putting their name on. Since a 2021 partnership with Proximo Spirits it has been produced at La Rojeña, NOM 1122, one of the oldest working distilleries in tequila. It is made in small batches from 100 percent blue Weber agave: the piñas are slow-cooked for about three days in brick ovens, the juice is fermented with water and yeast, and the spirit is distilled three times in copper pot stills and bottled unaged at 40% ABV, 80 proof. Wine Enthusiast scored it 93 points, calling out the sweeter side of blanco, and it was named Tequila of the Year at the 2023 London Spirits Competition. Tasters find vanilla, cooked agave, green apple and fresh herbs on the nose and a mild, lightly sweet palate of agave, white pepper and citrus with a soft, clean finish that makes it an easy margarita and paloma base.
