Joshua Tree Distilling Giant Rock Gin is hand-made in Yucca Valley, California, just outside Joshua Tree National Park, and named for the seven-story boulder in the Mojave that has drawn Native Americans, prospectors and UFO conventions alike. It is distilled from an organic sugarcane mash that is vapor-infused with a desert-inspired mix of botanicals, and bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof).
The distillery describes it as a new take on a traditional London Dry, with crisp juniper and citrus up front and subtle notes of licorice, allspice and black pepper. It won a Double Gold medal and Best in Category at the 2023 American Distilling Institute World Spirits Competition, and 1% of sales goes to the Joshua Tree National Park Association. It makes a clean, peppery Martini and a G&T that tastes like a desert sunset.
