Kelt revives the old practice of ocean maturation: its selected eaux-de-vie, already aged in Limousin oak, are loaded in casks aboard a ship and sent on a three-month voyage around the world, crossing the equator twice, so that the constant motion, humidity and temperature swings of the sea accelerate and deepen the interaction of spirit and wood. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
The voyage produces a rich amber cognac with a captivating nose of dried fruit, warm spice and subtle oak. The palate is smooth and velvety, with candied orange, fig, toffee and gentle spice, and the finish is long and complex. Commodore sits above the house VSOP and drinks best neat.
