Kelt XO Tour du Monde Cognac is the top expression of Kelt, a house that revives the 19th-century practice of aging cognac at sea. Its eaux-de-vie come from the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne crus, aged in Limousin oak and then sent on a three-month Tour du Monde aboard a sailing ship, crossing the equator twice. The motion of the ocean, the humidity and the changing climates work the spirit deeper into the wood. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
It shows a radiant amber with an elegant nose of florals, dried fruit and delicate spice. The palate is velvety and layered: rich caramel, toasted almond and dark chocolate mingle with oak and a whisper of vanilla, and the finish is long, warm and satisfying. It is a cognac for refined contemplation, sipped neat.
