Where the regular 8 Year Cask Strength leans on bourbon wood, this edition was matured exclusively in sherry casks for eight years, marrying rich, fruity sherry with Kilkerran's lightly peated, coastal Campbeltown character.
Bottled at 114.8 proof (57.4% ABV), non-chill-filtered and naturally colored, in a 700mL bottle, it offers dried fruit, warm spice and a subtle hint of chocolate on the nose, then a big, oily palate of sherried raisin, fig, toffee and earthy peat with sea salt and pepper, finishing long and warming with lingering smoke and sherry. Whether neat or with a splash of water, it is a sought-after bottling that sells out quickly, and a must for Springbank and Kilkerran collectors.
