Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch No. 6 is a limited cask-strength release from Glengyle, the Campbeltown distillery resurrected in 2004 by the family owners of Springbank. The Heavily Peated series uses barley peated to Islay-like levels on Springbank's own floor maltings, bottled young and at full strength in small numbered batches that sell out within weeks of release.
Bottled at 114.8 proof (57.4% ABV), non-chill-filtered and naturally colored, Batch No. 6 delivers thick peat smoke, charred oak and coastal brine on the nose with honeycomb and green apple beneath, then a rich, oily palate of smoked malt, sea salt, pepper and vanilla, finishing long and smoky with a savory, maritime tang. Each batch differs slightly, which makes the series a favorite of collectors who chase every release. A must for peat lovers and Springbank devotees.
