Kings County Barrel Strength Peated Bourbon Whiskey
Kings County Barrel Strength Peated Bourbon is the first release in a new silver-label barrel strength series from Brooklyn's Kings County Distillery and the oldest batched release the distillery has ever put out. It is a never-before-bottled full-proof version of the distillery's peated bourbon: a mashbill of 75% corn and 25% malted barley, with the barley grown and peat-kilned in Scotland, double distilled on traditional copper pot stills with narrow cuts that the distillery says give its whiskeys the body to hold up at high proof. The batch is a blend of barrels aged five to eight years in new charred oak, drawn from stocks of this recipe that have aged up to a decade, and bottled uncut at 128.6 proof (64.3% ABV). The distillery notes that time in oak softens the peat, leaving a lighter, earthier smoke than the barbecue sweetness of its 90-proof Peated Bourbon. It won a Double Gold medal with a 97-point rating at the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and is a limited annual release.
