Kujira 15 Year Old Ryukyu Whisky is the oldest expression in the Kujira range from Masahiro Distillery in Okinawa. Built on awamori, the islands' traditional spirit made from indica rice and black koji, it is matured for fifteen years in white oak barrels, an exceptional age for a Ryukyu whisky, and presented in a 700ml bottle.
Fifteen years in the barrel produce a sophisticated, harmonious whisky: aged oak, rich toffee, dark chocolate and a symphony of dried fruit in a texture that is smooth and refined, with an exceptionally long finish. The rice spirit underneath stays clean and elegant, so the wood never overwhelms. It is a whisky for slow sipping, neat.
