For this 2023 release, 11-year-old Lagavulin was finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum, bringing tropical warmth to the south-coast Islay distillery's famously intense peat.
Bottled at 92 proof, it pours deep amber and opens with peat smoke, brine and seaweed layered with caramel, vanilla and tropical fruit from the rum wood, then a harmonious palate of robust smoke balanced by sweet molasses, dark chocolate and dried fruit, with a velvety texture and a long, gently sweet finish.
