Landmark Vineyards' Overlook is a California Pinot Noir blended from multiple regions, with Monterey County contributing the largest share in recent vintages. The wine is barrel aged, which brings toasted oak, vanilla and cinnamon-like spice to the fruit. Bottled at 14.3% alcohol, it is a medium-bodied red, light in the glass with a medium purple and ruby color. Aromas include strawberry compote, red cherry and plum, along with leather, red licorice, camphor and subtle purple florals. On the palate you will find red berry, cherry and plum, with vanilla, spice, dried herbs and earthy notes. The finish is moderately long and fresh, with lingering fruit and balanced tannins. It is an easy red for the table, with enough fruit for casual drinking and enough structure for dinner. Pair it with roast turkey, grilled salmon, pork chops, or pasta with mushrooms.
