Lewis Cellars was founded in 1992 by former Indy race car driver Randy Lewis and his wife Debbie, and the family winery in Napa has built a reputation for rich, hedonistic, unapologetically bold reds; its 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet was Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year in 2016. The Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from select vineyards across the valley and aged 19 months in French oak, 65% new, finishing at a generous 15.5% ABV. Decanter awarded the current release 93 points for its blue and dark fruit, blackberry preserves and toasty oak spice over a dense mid-palate, velvety tannins and grippy structure, calling it a very focused and structured wine. Jeb Dunnuck also scored it 93, noting plum, subtle cassis, floral incense and cedar in a medium to full-bodied, round and textured frame to drink through 2035, while James Suckling (91) found ripe dark berries, baking spices, roasted coffee and spiced cedary tannins. Wine Spectator (90) summed it up as one for the hedonist crowd. Pour this 750ml bottle with prime rib, braised short ribs or dark chocolate. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
