Lincourt Rancho Santa Rosa Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir
Lincourt is located in the Sta. Rita Hills of Santa Barbara County, one of California's most coveted cool-climate growing regions, and it makes its wines entirely from two estate vineyards inside the appellation. Rancho Santa Rosa is one of those sites, and the Pinot Noir from it shows the structured, fruit-forward and regionally exact character the winery aims for. The Sta. Rita Hills run east to west, which lets cool ocean air and fog flow in and gives the grapes a long, gentle season. Bottled at 14.1% alcohol, the wine has an inviting bouquet of boysenberry jam and sun-ripened red cherry that leads to a vibrant, fruit-driven palate. Juicy black cherry, pomegranate and dark plum are accented by black pepper on the finish. The texture is plush but lively, with acidity that keeps the dark fruit from feeling heavy. It is a natural partner for grilled duck breast, roasted pork loin and mushroom dishes, and it also suits salmon with a light sauce. Serve it slightly cooler than room temperature. 750ml bottle.
