Lost Lore Reposado Tequila takes the brand's highland blanco and rests it in used American oak whiskey barrels for up to 12 months, well beyond the two-month minimum for the category. Lost Lore was founded in 2021 by Arturo and Sarah Lamas to revive a family distilling tradition lost when Arturo's father left Mexico for Illinois, and every bottle is made at NOM 1414, Feliciano Vivanco y Asociados in Arandas, Los Altos de Jalisco, under master distiller Sergio Cruz. Mature estate agave is cooked in stone brick ovens, roller-milled, fermented in open-air stainless steel tanks with Champagne yeast and no fibers, and double distilled in copper pot stills before aging. It is bottled additive-free at 40% ABV (80 proof) in a 750ml bottle. VinePair named it one of its top 30 tequilas, and The Daily Pour rates it 84, Very Good. Expect caramel, vanilla and baking spice layered over cooked agave, with subtle oak, chocolate and black pepper, and a finish that keeps the agave in front of the barrel. A sipping reposado that also makes a serious old fashioned or añejo-style highball.
