Maison Gautier XO Cognac comes from one of the oldest houses in Cognac, founded in 1755 in the town of Aigre, where its cellars sit on the banks of the Osme river. The humidity of the riverside cellars gives Gautier's cognacs a notably round, mellow character. This XO blends eaux-de-vie aged a minimum of ten years in oak and is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
The nose is a rich bouquet of vanilla, caramel and dried fruit with oak and spice. The palate is smooth and velvety, with dark chocolate, roasted nuts and a touch of cinnamon, and the finish is long with a lingering sweetness and warmth. It is a cognac for after-dinner sipping, neat, and a good match for a cigar.
