Marie Brizard Anisette
Marie Brizard Anisette is the liqueur that started one of France's oldest and most respected spirits houses — and the story behind it is as memorable as the liqueur itself. As legend has it, on January 11, 1750, at the port of Bordeaux, Marie Brizard discovered a West Indian sailor named Thomas lying stricken with fever. She nursed him back to health, and in gratitude, he gave her the recipe for this aniseed liqueur. Five years later, she partnered with her nephew Jean-Baptiste Roger to found the Marie Brizard Company, with another nephew supplying eleven plants, spices, and fruits from around the world — including green aniseed, cinnamon, oranges, lemons, angelica, iris, coriander, and cloves. In business since 1755, Marie Brizard maintains a long tradition of using natural products rather than the synthetic ingredients found in cheaper anisette knockoffs. The complex bouquet offers notes of anise, citrus, and vanilla, heavy bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and a long finish with very little alcohol presence. Best served neat in a tumbler over crushed ice. Buy Marie Brizard Anisette online with fast shipping right to your door.
