Masahiro 12 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish is a pure malt (blended malt) whisky from Masahiro Shuzo in Naha, Okinawa, a distillery founded in 1883 and famous for awamori, Okinawa's traditional rice spirit. Masahiro entered whisky in the 2010s, and this expression combines malt whiskies matured for 12 years before a finishing period in Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The whisky is deep amber, with dried figs and raisins, honey, vanilla and oak on the nose. The palate balances dark chocolate, ripe plum and toffee with sherry sweetness, gentle oak and subtle spice, and the finish is long and elegant with cinnamon warmth and fading sherry.
