McPrice Myers Beautiful Earth Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon
McPrice (Mac) Myers has been making Central Coast wine for more than 20 years, starting with a half-ton of grapes at a small Paso Robles cooperative and growing into an 84-acre westside property on Adelaida Road, home to the winery, tasting room and a 20-acre estate vineyard. Beautiful Earth is one of his flagship wines, a Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon that typically blends around 92% Cabernet Sauvignon with small portions of Petit Verdot and Syrah drawn from the estate and other top Paso Robles vineyards. The wine ages 18 months in French oak barriques and 500-liter puncheons, about 60% new, and finishes at 14.8% ABV. Myers describes a dark ruby wine with generous aromas of red and dark fruit, dried herbs and dusty earth, followed by raspberries, red currants, blackberries, baking spice and dried herbs over gauzy tannins and a medium body that stays fresh and juicy. Wine Advocate awarded the 2021 release 96 points, and McPrice Myers wines have taken top honors at consecutive Sunset International Wine Competitions.
