Merlet VS Cognac comes from the Merlet family of Saint-Sauvant in the Charente, distillers since 1850 and one of the few houses that both distills cognac and makes its own fruit liqueurs. The VS is a blend of young eaux-de-vie aged at least two years in French oak and bottled at 40% ABV.
It shows a radiant gold. The nose is delicate florals with fresh apple and pear. The palate carries the sweetness of ripe fruit, a touch of vanilla and a subtle warmth from the oak in a harmonious, well-balanced profile, and the finish is clean and satisfying. It is a perfect introduction to cognac and an excellent mixer for a Sidecar, a French 75 or a cognac and ginger ale.
