Mi Casa Blanco Tequila
Mi Casa is an additive-free tequila brand produced at Casa Tequilera de Arandas, NOM 1499, in the highlands of Jalisco, from estate-grown blue Weber agave sourced from the village of El Cucuno in Michoacán and harvested at peak maturity, seven to eight years old. The ingredient list is just agave, yeast, and water. This Blanco release is unusual: it was distilled in 2011 and rested for about twelve years before bottling, including roughly ten years in neutral stainless steel tanks at full strength and close to two more in glass. None of that time was spent in wood, so it remains a true unaged blanco in color and character, but the long rest is meant to give it a rounder texture and more integration than a freshly distilled tequila. Mi Casa tasted it at a range of strengths before settling on 45.5% ABV as the point where it shows its full character, and the brand says future releases won't get this kind of extended rest, which makes this batch a one-off. A blanco to pour neat and taste side by side with a fresh one, or use for a top-shelf Ranch Water or Margarita.
