NDC New Zealand Native Gin
NDC New Zealand Native Gin is made by the National Distillery Company in Ahuriri, Hawke's Bay, a grain-to-glass distillery run by a team of bartenders, distillers, brewers and chefs from a 1930s Art Nouveau building in the old National Tobacco Company headquarters. The base is a four-times-distilled spirit made from casein whey from grass-fed New Zealand dairy, and the botanicals are juniper, lemon peel, coriander seed, angelica root, cardamom, carissa bark, orris root and harakeke, the native New Zealand flax. More than 63% are sourced in New Zealand. It is bottled at 44% ABV (88 proof).
It drinks like a London Dry with a Kiwi accent: juniper and lemon up front, then the nutty, earthy note of native flaxseed and a fine structure from New Zealand orris.
