Nueveuno Reposado Artisanal Organic Tequila
Nueveuno comes from master distiller Noemi Partida and her father Enrique, an agave-growing family from Amatitán, Jalisco, and is made at Rancho Miravalle, NOM 1426. The name, "nine-one," honors Noemi's grandfather Enrique Partida Sr., who passed away at 91. All of the agave is grown in the family's own fields in the Tequila Valley, and the tequila carries organic, kosher and non-GMO certifications with nothing added. Blue Weber agave is cooked in stone ovens, milled on a roller mill, fermented without fibers using natural yeast, and double distilled in stainless pot stills before resting in American white oak barrels that previously held bourbon. It's bottled at 40% ABV. The producer describes notes of walnut, preserved cherry, apricot kernel, vanilla, caramel, cooked agave, violet and nutmeg, with a silky, lightly sweet palate and a long finish. The barrel adds vanilla and spice without burying the agave, which makes it an easy sipper and a reposado that holds its own in an upgraded margarita or a tequila Old Fashioned.
