Old Hickory Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Old Hickory is a heritage American whiskey label, named for Andrew Jackson's nickname and carrying his portrait, that was revived by R.S. Lipman, a Nashville spirits company, as its Old Hickory Great American Whiskey line. This is the straight bourbon in that range, often called the white label. The whiskey is sourced from MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, one of the country's largest and most respected producers of bourbon for independent brands, and blended from barrels between four and seven years old, so while there is no age statement, everything in the bottle is well past the two-year minimum for straight bourbon. It's bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV). Drinkhacker's review describes a nose that pairs sweetness with lumberyard and barrel char and a butterscotch character, and a palate of moderate sweetness backed by a slightly bittersweet, herbal note with touches of anise.
