It is a four-year-old Kentucky straight rye bottled at 114 proof, with no chill filtration. Breaking Bourbon rated the 2020 release 3 out of 5 and called it bold and nuanced, with spice and oak on the nose, oak, cherry, fresh-baked bread and tobacco leaf on the palate, and a finish of cereal grain, dry oak, leather and cigar box, adding that it made the reviewer wish Old Overholt would make it permanent, which the brand did. The proof gives it real presence in an Old Fashioned or a Boulevardier, and a splash of water opens it up nicely for sipping.
