Old Trestle Distillery Theory Gin 003 comes from Truckee, California, where Old Trestle opened in 2019 as the Sierra town's first distillery in a century, reviving a distilling tradition that dates to the railroad era. Master distiller Jake Holshue, a Montana native and board member of the American Craft Spirits Association, builds the Theory series around botanicals harvested locally along the Truckee River each September, with each numbered release exploring a different recipe. 003 is bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof).
Expect juniper front and center with an earthy depth of coriander and angelica, bright citrus peel and a subtle warmth on a smooth, lingering finish. Old Trestle's Western-style gins are designed to be approachable rather than austere, which makes 003 a friendly Martini gin and a great G&T for a day on the lake.
