Orphan Barrel Muckety-Muck 26 Year Old is the third release of single grain Scotch from Port Dundas, the historic Glasgow distillery founded in 1810 that closed its doors in 2010 after two centuries of production. Released through Diageo's Orphan Barrel project, which rescues forgotten casks from the company's warehouses, it pays homage to the 24 and 25 Year releases while offering a distinct profile of its own from the last remaining stocks.
Made from 100% malted barley on a column still and bottled at 92 proof, it opens with a burst of caramel, fudge and baked sugar backed by fresh fruit and berries, then poached pear with chocolate drizzle, butterscotch vanilla, toasted oak, cloves, fruitcake, pecan and buttered toast on a sweet, fruity palate, finishing light and gentle. The Whiskey Wash called it sweet, fruity and straightforward. A rare taste of a lost distillery and a collector's piece for fans of ghost whiskies.
