Patz & Hall Gap's Crown Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Patz & Hall was founded in 1988 by Donald Patz, James Hall, Anne Moses and Heather Patz, and the winery built its reputation on single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This bottling comes from Gap's Crown Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast appellation of Sonoma County, a cool, Pacific-influenced area that favors slow ripening and lively acidity. Co-founder James Hall has long served as winemaker. Bottled at 14.5% alcohol, it leans toward the darker, riper side of coastal Pinot Noir, with aromas that critics have described as black cherry, pine forest and earth. Expect a plush core of dark cherry and berry on the palate, framed by savory forest-floor notes, fine tannins and enough freshness to keep the finish lively. It benefits from a short decant and a light chill before serving. Pair it with roast duck breast, grilled pork tenderloin with cherry sauce, or mushroom risotto finished with Parmigiano. A good pick for anyone who prefers a richer, more concentrated style of California Pinot Noir. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
