Patz & Hall Jenkins Ranch Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Four friends, Donald Patz, James Hall, Anne Moses and Heather Patz, started Patz & Hall in 1988, and the winery has since become one of California's most respected names for single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Jenkins Ranch is one of its Sonoma Coast sites, an appellation defined by cool Pacific air, fog and slow, even ripening. Founder James Hall has long made the wines. Bottled at 13.5% alcohol, this is a moderate, balanced take on Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir rather than a heavy one. Expect red cherry and berry fruit, a touch of spice and earth, fine tannins and a clean, fresh finish that keeps it versatile at the table. A short decant and a light chill bring out the aromatics. Pair it with seared salmon, roast chicken with thyme, or a mushroom and Gruyere tart. A good bottle for anyone building a collection of Patz & Hall's vineyard-designate wines or looking for a food-friendly Pinot with some polish. 750ml bottle.
