Powers John's Lane Irish Whiskey
Powers John's Lane Irish Whiskey is named for the Dublin distillery where James Power began making whiskey in 1791, and it is Powers' flagship single pot still expression. Made at Midleton Distillery from malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled, it is aged twelve years predominantly in first-fill bourbon barrels with a small portion of Oloroso sherry casks, and bottled non-chill filtered at 46% ABV (92 proof).
It is the big, robust style of pot still whiskey: honey, vanilla and spiced fruit on the nose, a velvety, full palate of toffee, leather, dark chocolate and peppery spice, and a long finish with a hint of oak. It is a whiskey to sip neat and is often called one of the best-value age-stated pot still whiskeys made.
