Manastirka Slivovitz Plum Brandy 10 Years Old is a long-aged šljivovica, the plum brandy that is Serbia's national spirit. Made by Prokupac, the historic distillery in the town of Prokuplje in southern Serbia, Manastirka, meaning "from the monastery," is distilled from ripe Serbian plums and aged ten years in oak, then bottled at 45% ABV.
A decade in wood transforms the fiery young plum spirit into something rich and mellow. The nose is ripe, juicy plum with dried fruit and a touch of vanilla; the palate layers plum, oak and honeyed sweetness in a velvety texture, and the finish is warm and lingering. It is the traditional welcome drink of the Balkans, served neat at room temperature or lightly chilled in a small glass.
