Próspero Tequila is the brand pop star Rita Ora co-founded with spirits firm Conecuh Brands around master distiller Stella Anguiano, one of the few women to hold that title in tequila, with roughly thirty years of distilling in Jalisco. It is made at the Don Roberto distillery, NOM 1437, in the Tequila valley lowlands, from 100% blue Weber agave sourced from both the highlands and the valley. The agave hearts are roasted, the distillate is double distilled, and Anguiano hand-selects the final cut before the añejo goes into oak, where it picks up its tawny color before bottling at 40% ABV (80 proof); the brand does not publish an exact aging period beyond the añejo designation, which under Mexican regulation means at least one year in barrels of 600 liters or less. Every bottle is hand-filled at the distillery into a hexagonal, hand-blown glass bottle, with the label and cork applied by hand; the label art of a woman riding a brightly colored horse was designed by Anguiano herself. It is the sipping expression of the range: pour it neat or over one large cube.
