Raising Glasses is an American independent bottler run by Lorri and John, a husband-and-wife team of longtime Scotch collectors who select their own casks and bottle them in 375ml under their own label, and King Kai, number 12 in their Folklore Series, is their 17-year single cask from Diamond Distillery in Guyana, the Demerara Distillers plant that houses every surviving still from the country's colonial-era sugar estates. This cask carries the ELWR marque, which designates the Enmore wooden Coffey still, the greenheart-timber continuous still that is the last wooden column still operating anywhere in the world. The rum was distilled from molasses in 2007, aged 17 years and bottled in 2024 at cask strength, 63.6% ABV, with no sugar, coloring or other additives, in a run of 267 bottles.
