Rancho Las Hermanas sources its wines from two family-owned estate vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation, Rancho Las Hermanas and Rancho Santa Rosa. The vineyards sit where Central Coast sunshine meets cool Pacific breezes over ancient marine soils, which creates distinct microclimates even within a single estate. The team maps soils and topography in fine detail, tailors its techniques to each clone, and takes a minimalist approach in the cellar. Bottled at 14.1% alcohol, this Pinot Noir opens with fresh aromatics of ripe red raspberries, with a touch of dried thyme. The palate shows red cherry and hibiscus tea framed by elegant tannins and rounded acidity, and recent vintages add Chambord and maraschino cherry richness. A subtle hint of black pepper lingers on the finish. It is a very food-friendly wine, and it suits roast chicken, salmon, pork tenderloin, or a mushroom flatbread.
