Batch No. 1 takes the same barrel-hunting approach and applies it to a blend: predominantly seven- and eight-year-old straight rye whiskeys from prime barrels sourced across Indiana and Kentucky, married and bottled at 117.9 proof.
Moix, a veteran bartender known for his palate, selects barrels for character rather than uniformity, and the batch shows it. It opens with warm baking spice, orange zest and toasted oak, evolves on the palate into dark fruit, caramelized sugar and a peppery rye backbone, and finishes long with refined tannin, black pepper and a subtle citrus lift.
