You are correct one of the best my dad use to cut sugar cane to send to Ponce and Mayaguez and is the best Rum, Barrilito my dad drink it . Don Q Anejo is also good.
I was in Puerto Rico and went to the distillery and purchased 3 star and very upset that I didn't buy more. I don't drink rum but this was really good stuff. Smooth as a babies bottom
Shipped in a timely manner. Ron del 3 star is the best!Been a minute since I enjoyed its unique character. Best present to myself in a long time!
I have a good pesonal friend in Puerto Rico who has taken me to some of the best distillers on all of the island, This is the preferred sipping rum by a vast majority.
When I arrived in Puerto Rico in 1982, a bottle of Barrelito 3-star could be had for $9 at the grocery store and $21 for a three pack at the family owned distillery—actually a family casking business as the initial white rum comes from the Bacardi plant a few miles down the road in Bayamon. It has always been my favorite Puerto Rican rum for sipping. You can buy the 2-star for incredible Cuba Libres (mentiritas) too.
At the Santa Ana farm, one of the family would lead you a a tour ending in front of a cask that was aged over 50 years. A viscous shot was poured for each attendee. It went down like honey (but not that sweet) and then a warm glow rose from from my belly making my day, and the rest of my week, a dream. The 5-star is close but who would spend $750 for a bottle (someone did for my 60th). The 3-star is not too far behind and comparably affordable at $40. Enjoy.
