I discovered this gin on a visit to London about five years ago upon the recommendation of a liquor store employee after telling him my favorite gin was Beefeaters but was having a hard time finding it in London of all places. I quickly found out why as the European version was only 80 proof as opposed to the then North American version at 94 proof. It just didn't have the same flavor at 40%. So this recommendation was right on and as the label says VJOP, very juniper over proof. At 115.4 proof you notice the bite, at least the way I drink gin, straight on the rocks. Now that the owners of Beefeaters became greedy and cut the North American version down to 42% in 2020, this Sipsmith VJOP has become my gin of choice. And if I ever need to store some gunpowder near my gin stock, no worries about ruining it.
