Sorgin Small Batch Gin & Sauvignon
Sorgin is the first gin made from Sauvignon Blanc, created by Bordeaux winemaker François Lurton with Sabine Jaren, reviving a distilling tradition his great-grandfather began in 1880. The base is a distillate of Sauvignon Blanc grapes combined with neutral wine spirit, and the botanicals echo the grape's aromatic profile: juniper, grapefruit, lemon and lime zest, violet, broom flower and blackcurrant buds. It is made in small batches in France and bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof).
The palate is clean and direct before unfolding into layers of citrus brightness and floral elegance, with a long, refined finish that balances the flowers against the juniper. The Sauvignon base gives it a wine-like freshness and a soft, round texture that grain gins lack, which makes it superb in a Martini with a grapefruit twist, a French 75, or a G&T with a sprig of blackcurrant leaf or lime.
