Sparr Cremant Brut Rose
Pierre Sparr's story starts in tragedy: he lived through the Second World War in Alsace and watched his village of Sigolsheim and its surrounding vineyards destroyed, then rebuilt the family domaine from scratch afterward. His sons René and Charles later expanded it into what it is today — 15 hectares of estate vineyards in Sigolsheim, supplemented by fruit from another 150 hectares of grower partners across the region. This rosé is 100% Pinot Noir, hand-harvested from hillside vineyards 200 to 400 meters up, whole-cluster pressed and cold-fermented in stainless steel, then rested a minimum of 18 months on the lees before disgorgement using traditional méthode traditionnelle. The result is a deep salmon-to-rose pink color, closer to a Tavel rosé than typical Champagne pink, with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and red apple layered over a classic toasty, yeasty edge. The palate turns round and creamy, balancing lively acidity and fine bubbles against ripe fruit, finishing smooth, clean, and dry. Wine Enthusiast has scored it in the high 80s to 90 points across tastings, and it earned a spot on the New York Times' "20 Under $20" list. Bottled at 12.5% ABV.
