Starward Nova Single Malt Whisky
Starward Nova is the flagship single malt from Starward Distillery in Melbourne, Australia, founded by David Vitale in 2007 with the idea that Australian whisky should taste like Australia. Nova is distilled from Australian malted barley and matured entirely in Australian red wine barrels, Shiraz, Cabernet and Pinot Noir from the wineries around Melbourne, which are filled while still wet with wine. Melbourne's famous four-seasons-in-a-day climate drives the whisky in and out of the wood quickly. Bottled at 41% ABV (82 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The result is rich amber with ripe red berries, vanilla and oak on the nose, a palate of caramel, plum and gentle spice with a soft, velvety texture, and a lingering fruity finish. It is superb neat and makes a fantastic Old Fashioned or Highball. Starward has won a shelf of world whisky awards, and Nova is the reason why.
