Starward Whisky Negroni Cocktail
Starward Whisky Negroni is a bottled cocktail from Starward Distillery in Melbourne, Australia, swapping the classic Negroni's gin for Starward's red wine cask single malt. The whisky is blended with Campari-style bitter aperitivo and sweet vermouth in the traditional proportions, so it is ready to pour over ice with an orange twist. Bottled at 32% ABV (64 proof) in a 750ml bottle that makes about a dozen drinks.
The red wine cask whisky brings berry fruit, caramel and spice that play beautifully against the bitter orange of the aperitivo and the herbal sweetness of the vermouth, for a Negroni that is rounder and richer than the gin original. It is an aperitif for a warm evening, a party pour for a crowd and a fun bottle for anyone who loves a Boulevardier. Bar-quality cocktails with zero effort.
