Stillman's Sonder 10 Year American Single Malt Whiskey

Stillman's Sonder 10 Year American Single Malt comes from Dancing Goat Distillery in Cambridge, Wisconsin, under a label launched in July 2026 that honors three generations of Maas family stillmen: Duane Maas, who worked at Seagram's and Chartreuse from the 1950s; Dancing Goat founder Tom Maas; and current stillman and blender Nick Maas. The name pairs stillman, for patience, process and precision, with sonder, the awareness that every person carries a life as vivid as your own. The whiskey is 100% malted barley distilled at MGP (now Ross & Squibb) in Indiana during exploratory test runs between 2010 and 2016, then aged in Wisconsin. Over an 18-month program it went through three rounds of blending, re-barreling and finishing in virgin oak, ex-bourbon, Wisconsin brandy, Cognac and Calvados casks before bottling at 96.4 proof (48.2% ABV). Breaking Bourbon described blackberry, cherry jubilee, poached pear, smoked apple and toasted oak on the nose, charred oak, brown sugar, dried apple and baking spice on the palate, and called it a fruit-forward, unusual American single malt that tastes like little else on the market.
