Stillman's Sonder 10 Year Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Stillman's Sonder is a whiskey label from Dancing Goat Distillery of Cambridge, Wisconsin, launched in July 2026 and named for three generations of the Maas family: Duane Maas, a stillman from the 1950s who advanced production at Seagram's and Chartreuse; his son Tom Maas, a brand builder of the small-batch bourbon era who founded Dancing Goat; and Tom's son Nick Maas, the current stillman and blender. The 10 Year Straight Bourbon is drawn from unused barrels from large exploratory test runs at MGP (now Ross & Squibb) in Indiana between 2010 and 2016, acquired and curated by the family, then put through an 18-month program of analysis, blending and finishing. It was aged in both Andean and American oak, with some barrels spoon-proofed, some short-filled and vatted to encourage oxidation, and several double-oaked components, and is bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV). It earned a Double Gold medal and 98 points at the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition with a Best in Class nomination for 6-to-10-year small batch bourbon. Breaking Bourbon noted raisin, burnt caramel, cocoa, aged leather and dense peppery seasoned oak, calling it a unique, oak-centric pour.
