Suave Reposado Tequila

Suave is an organic tequila brand founded in 2014 and made at NOM 1522 in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco under master distiller Jaime Villalobos Sauza, from single-estate blue Weber agave grown without synthetic fertilizers; the line is certified organic, kosher and non-GMO with no additives, sweeteners, aromas or colors. The piñas are cooked in high-pressure autoclaves, crushed on a roller mill, fermented in stainless steel and double distilled in stainless pot stills with copper coils. For the Reposado, the finished blanco rests in American white oak, with the brand drawing on new, used and ex-bourbon barrels across its aged line, and it is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). Suave says all color and flavor in its aged tequilas comes from the barrel, which is why this reposado stays pale and agave-led. Tequila Matchmaker tasters found cooked agave and banana fruit on the nose, light oak, dried fruit and a pepper kick on the finish, with a medium length. It is a reposado where the rest softens the blanco without covering it: good neat, better in an Old Fashioned or a margarita where a little oak adds weight.
