Summer Dreams Stargazing Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Summer Dreams is the Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir project of Jayson Woodbridge, built on hillside micro-blocks on the western edge of the appellation at about 900 to 1,900 feet. The soils are Goldridge, a fine, fast-draining sandy loam, and some sites sit over ancient seabeds with enough clay to hold moisture through summer. Stargazing blends these blocks, with recent vintages made from 100 percent Pinot Noir using whole-cluster fermentation in open-top tanks and puncheons, aged in French oak and bottled unfined. Bottled at 14.8% alcohol, it is highly aromatic, with cedarwood, brown spice, cigar box, dried violets and conifer notes, plus a mineral edge. The palate is plush but structured, with sappy tannins supporting spice-scented red berry fruit and a long, focused finish. Decant it briefly and serve slightly cool. It suits herb-roasted lamb, duck with cherry sauce, or grilled portobello mushrooms. A strong pick for drinkers who want a Sonoma Coast Pinot with real depth and perfume. 750ml bottle.
